Submitted My First App for the WP7 Market Today

Yea, Just a nice simple little tip calculator (misspelled everything in the UI too wanna see if anyone catches it) v1.0 should hit their market place tomorrow.  I did it in like 10 minutes using the SDK which is surprisingly good. Much better than the iOS SDK and much easier UI designer than XCode has to offer. The Next Screenshot is of another & little more complex app I'm working on.
It's a nice little rock paper scissors game. Yet again, I'm gunna hide some mistakes in there and see if anyone can catch them.  No Idea when v1.0 will be ready for that, but when it is i'll post it on the new WEBSITE I made (Which i'll link below)

Adkins Software
I'll be posting new programs, news, open sourcing stuff there and putting up examples of my work there, but it's more of a professional thing there than here. Here it's just my thoughts on what I do and random things. There it's just what I do and code. Both have their own feel I guess, but I try to keep up with what I do.

I had a concept for an iPhone app. Was about 1/3 of the way though build 0.0.1 of an early alpha build when I stopped and thought, "Is the $99 investment really worth this one app I probably won't make my money back on?" So, I scrapped it. I don't know. I wanna build some iPhone apps but I don't know a whole lot of objective-c and I don't wanna senselessly invest that kind of money on something that:
1. May not even get approved and make it to the app store
2. May not make me the initial 99 dollars back
3. May bomb.
I might Pick it back up again later and start off with a way more basic app and get my footing in Objective-C first. I know I wanna pick up this language.

Dear America.

Dear America,
In our time together I've realized things. Like, you are very quick to jump to conclusions. Just because someone is a certain race, religion, or accused of a certain crime; you cannot be quick to judge them. You gotta look at the person, the evidence, etc.
Another thing, you claim to be neutral on things like religion, and that you want to keep it out of politics; yet you lean more towards Christianity. This comes back to point one in a way. That just because someone isn't of a certain religion or is of a certain religion they shouldn't be excluded or looked down on for their beliefs.
My last point for this letter is equal rights. You claim to be for equal rights yet you are against gay marriage. This comes back to my last two points; because, how can you before equal rights yet exclude certain groups from having certain rights? As much as I make racist and sexist jokes even I think that's messed up.
In conclusion, America, as much as I love you get your stuff together and get out. I'm leaving you for Canada, you're just to emotionally unstable for me.

                                                          With Love and Disdain,
                                                                                     Ethan.

So...

So Alot is new.
First off I got a new Computer. Not just any computer though, but a badass 27' Apple iMac. Sad part is apple just refreshed the line not to long ago so I have to send it back for one of the newer ones.
Secondly, i've started my first programming class this quarter. The first language i'm learning is Visual Basic and the .Net framework.  This is so I can mainly:
- Learn the language
- Learn Syntax
- Learn the basics of programming

- etc
So far this 2nd project he's had us working on is a ballbuster but doesn't really really relate to my overall goal. The video game industry.
Last thing I wanna rant about is this, and it starts off with what companies are going to take a 2 year degree seriously? Not many.  The purpose of why I started this blog and my astranged youtube channel was to help kids who want to do the same thing I do. Although, I dont even know what i'm doing yet so i'm in no position to give advice to anyone.  So, why should I be handing out the advice? Maybe i'll help someone though with my experiences and mistakes.

I've also learned a few things recently and these are just personal experiences so slightly boring you can skip and not miss much:
- You learn that sometimes the best friends are the ones you've known the longest.  Also, this holds a flip side of just because you've known them for a while doesn't mean they are your best friend.  Your best friend is effeminately someone who is like a brother / family member and they know this without you even having to tell them.
- You can look around at people and listen to the things they say and know who to avoid. Like bums, moochers, etc. Just by the way they talk and conduct themselves.
- Your school doesn't always have your best interest at heart and you need to speak up and let your adviser / teacher / counselor / whoever know what you need done. They will try to get more money that you do not owe if you are not careful.

- Do not let anyone stop you from being yourself. If you lose a friend then you didn't need them and will make a better friend. There's a quote from Jim Morrison that I believe wholeheartedly that states, "Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is."
In closing of this longest post ever that no one is going to read. Just try and take my lack luster advice with a grain of salt. These are my personal experiences. I hope I helped someone out there.

Been A While

Bah, still no job. Means no cash for me. What makes me fucking mad is places like Gamestop and other retailers won't hire someone who knows anything about games but they'll hire some fucking idiot who doesn't know anything because they've had a job working a cash register before. That's just bad form. Bleh.

So I've begun my first (Paid) Writing venture.

As some of you make know I do freelance work over at daxgamer.com . Great guys over there, I love the staff. I recently just picked up a second gig writing for another site called thingsuwant.co.uk . I've been emailing the boss back and forth, real nice guy. So what i'm working out is since the guys over at thingsuwant have no need for my reviews I can keep reviewing for daxgamer. I enjoy both these sites very much and you guys should check them out.
